3 Spring Outfits with Dark Jeans (a Petite Friendly Pair!)

Her Simple Sole - monochrome black outfit for spring

When I think of spring, I think of breezy and lighter tones. Colours like greens, pastels, and whites/beige. Even so, for me, the differentiation between lighter or darker clothing shades based on season are few and far between. For instance, I’ll wear white or black on any given day. The same goes for my jeans – I think a lighter wash can work for colder weather as much as dark jeans can work even when it warms up.

In today’s post, I’m showcasing 3 spring outfits with the Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle Jean in the wash Feelin’ Cagey. I’ve had this pair for a few months now and can attest to the comfort of them, as well as how it’s a true straight leg jean. You’ve likely seen these all over the internet as of late – here you get to see how they fit on a shorter frame.

For reference, I’m 5’3, and these are a size 25. They fit very comfortably right out of the package and has stretched out a bit (it’s made of 99% cotton and 1% elastane). I felt a size 24 would also work great for me. That being said, I like my jeans quite form-fitting unless they’re a true intentional loose fit. Recently, after many wears I decided to throw them in the wash on a cold delicate cycle. And I actually love how they now fit like a glove!

Let’s get to the outfits!

Look 1 – Dark Jeans + Light Neutral Tones

Outfit details:
Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans
Frank and Oak Henley Top
Merino Wool Sweater from Aritzia (sold out)
Maguire Boutique Mules

Here I took advantage of my inklings of spring and styled these dark wash jeans with all light tones. For me, it creates a good juxtaposition and a cozy overall feel. Also, I’m using my trusty light merino wool sweater as a great accessory over my shoulders, which seems to happen quite often lately (as you can see here). It acts as a slight barrier for my shoulders for added warmth.

Look 2 – Dark Jeans + Edgy Vibes

Outfit Details:
Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans
Frank and Oak Essential Tee
Mackage Leather Jacket (old, linked to similar)
L’intervalle Combat boots (no longer available, linked to similar)
Harly Jae Tote

A monochrome black spring outfit – why not? In a previous post, I mentioned a crewneck t-shirt is an essential wardrobe item, and I finally added a black version in one of my favourite tees. The rest of the look consists of a lived-in leather jacket, and combat boots. For me, a leather jacket creates an edgier vibe that somehow also gives off spring vibes. After all, it’s a spring staple in most closets. This one is several years old from a collaboration between Mackage and Aritzia and is still holding up well. For a hint of lightness, a simple linen tote was added to finish off the look.

Look 3 – Dark Jeans + Some Fun

Outfit Details:
Levi’s Ribcage Straight Ankle Jeans
Kotn Essential Crew T-shirt
Cowlneck Camisole (old, linked to similar style)
Faux Snake Print Boots (old, linked to similar)
L’intervalle Maralik Boots
LV Baguette Bag

This fun outfit mish-mashes 90’s and 2000’s fashion by styling a cowlneck camisole over a white tee along with a LV baguette bag from back in the day (oh the treasures you find when cleaning out your closet!). I’ll admit, this outfit is a bit of a random one. And as you can see, I couldn’t decide on a pair of boots to go with this look. At first, I felt the faux snake print boots were clashing with the bag. But after seeing the photos I thought it looked quite unique!

Thanks for reading, friends! Have a great week and do tell me, which look is your favourite?
