Wardrobe Staples: Dark Basics

Hi lovelies!

It’s definitely been a while since my last blog post… recently I took a break from Instagram & the blog. I was lacking inspiration and just felt like I needed to figure out this whole blogging thing. After a year of having Her Simple Sole, I felt like I was just forcing myself to post, with no passion behind it. And in my mind, things felt pretty stagnant, especially in terms of Instagram growth and numbers. Not to mention our winters make it hella hard to stay consistent – not ideal in the least bit.

So it was time to reflect. A few tweaks to my website, fresh new photos, reminders that I’m doing this for FUN, and the realization that I actually did miss it all after a few months off! What a relief that was.

Back to Basics

I thought I’d keep it simple and showcase some of my favorite basic wardrobe items I’ve curated over the last few months. These can all be worn together or separately to create a streamlined, minimalistic look. All in darker shades because come on, who doesn’t like an all-black look?

Read on for all the details and why you need to add these items to your closet:

• Basic black tee – Madewell has become one of my favorite brands. They create all of your favorite basics at affordable prices, and all of great quality too. This tee is made of 100% cotton, is super lightweight, and features a crew neck. It makes layering necklaces that much easier. I’m planning to get it in white and grey as well! • Levi’s Wedgie fit straight jeans – The widely talked-about Wedgie-fit jeans. They are just so fabulous, I reach for them almost every chance I get. They provide just the right amount of stretch to hug your curves and I feel like they really suck everything in. Find them in a variety of washes (these are in the wash “that girl”). They are also petite friendly which I absolutely love!
• Black tote bag – This one from Splendid is actually reversible, but of course the black leather-like side is my favorite. Easy to bring around and large enough to hold all of your belongings.
• Leather wedges or mules – I finally broke in these criss-cross wedges from Zara that I bought last summer. Now I’ve been wearing them every day! Low wedges or mules will provide some added height without the closed toe, so they’re breathable yet fashionable for Spring/Summer.
