Well it’s officially that time! Many of us are looking for easy summer to fall transition outfits as the days get cooler and shorter. With that being said, I’ve been having so much fun styling a new wardrobe item – The Relaxed Oxford Shirt from Everlane.
If you’ve been following along for a while, you’ll know that I’ve compiled a wardrobe essentials wishlist. It’s what I focus on when looking to add items to my wardrobe, a list that’s full of classic + timeless staples. Contained in this list are cotton button-up shirts that I’ve avoided for far too long. It may be because the classic fitted shirt is somewhat anxiety ridden for me, as it brings me back to a time I wasn’t too fond of in my early 20s (public practice, anyone?).
Over time I’ve come to appreciate various different fits when it comes to a shirt. I decided it was time to add a less fitting, more relaxed-fit button-up for fall. My initial thought was to get one in white, but I went against it and I’m so happy I did! The blue gives off such an easy, refreshing vibe. It’s a simple throw-on-and-go piece, perfect for any transitional look.
Here you’ll find 4 ways I’ve styled this shirt – easily and comfortably. Let’s get to the outfits!

Outfit 1: Layered Casually
Outfit details:
Shirt – Everlane | Tank top – Aritzia | Pants – Encircled | Shoes – Adidas (linked to full white version) | Bag – Harly Jae | Necklace – Sheena Marshall Jewelry (gifted; no longer available, similar)
I love that this shirt can act as a light outer layer, creating a polished look with added warmth. Here I dressed it down with some wide leg pants and sneakers.
Outfit 2: Layered Dressed Up
Outfit details:
Shirt – Everlane | Tank top – Kotn | Pants – Aritzia (sold out, similar) | Mules – Maguire Boutique | Bag – A.P.C. | Necklace – Sheena Marshall jewelry (gifted)
Wearing it here again as an outer layer, but dressed up with a pair of trousers and mules. I feel like this is such a classic combination and one I’ll be wearing over and over again.
Outfit 3: Casually Buttoned Up
Outfit details:
Shirt – Everlane | Jeans – Everlane | Sweater – Able | Mules – Maguire Boutique | Bag – Harly Jae | Necklace – Sheena Marshall Jewelry (gifted; no longer available, similar)
A monochrome blue moment, with the addition of neutral accessories. A half tuck creates a cleaner look, and some warmth was later added through the use of a sweater over my shoulders.
Outfit 4: Dressed Up Buttoned Up
Outfit details:
Shirt – Everlane | Pants – Encircled | Bag – A.P.C. | Mules – L’intervalle
A very simple look, consisting of only two wardrobe pieces. I think the key to creating this more relaxed, less rigid and less of a corporate-office outfit is to leave the bottom buttons unbuttoned. The heeled mules give just enough height and finishes off the look for a night out.
These are just a few of the ways I’d style this shirt as a part of easy summer to fall transition outfits. I can’t wait to continue to style it for fall! How would you style a blue button-up shirt?
Hi! What size did you order? I like how it fits on you, oversized but not to oversized 🙂

I’m wearing a size 2 😊 I’d say that’s my usual size for tops – if you want it even more relaxed you could definitely go up a size!
