Wow, I’m on a roll this week! First off, I want to say thank you to those who have stopped by these last few weeks to check out my blog. I tend to take (unexpectedly) long hiatuses when trying to be consistent on here. But I promise I’m now in the zone and ready to pump out some posts – hopefully on a consistent weekly basis!
You may have seen my recent list of intentional gifts under $100 along with a post to shop my closet for Black Friday sale items. The intention behind them is to curate a list of purposeful items to help you shop more mindfully this season. After all, conscious consumerism is in these days!
But I also want to place focus on some sustainable fashion brands that are doing so much good. Specifically, small sustainable clothing brands, or small brands that are taking leaps toward sustainability. Brands that value slower production and quality products. I’ve had the pleasure of working with several this year, many of which are Canadian. And I have to say, the quality of their products are usually second to none, along with their use of comfortable natural/recycled fabrics and great customer service. Not only that, but they make you feel so appreciated with their conscious packaging and thoughtful notes.
It is during these times that they’re often overlooked due to the outpouring of sales from big, fast-paced brands. So let’s place a spotlight on some of them today, shall we?
Comfy 10×10 Challenge
What better way to showcase these small sustainable clothing brands than with a 10×10 challenge? If you’re unfamiliar with this concept, I touch on it in an older post. Coincidentally, as I started accumulating my picks from these brands, I realized they all pretty much landed in a similar category. Cozy pieces that are, or can pass as, loungewear. Who doesn’t love a good cozy collection?

I will never stop talking about this knitwear piece. Made of substantial 100% cotton and is a true fall/winter staple of mine. It always looks perfectly sewn together, even after coming out of the wash. No wonder it’s included in my fall 2022 capsule wardrobe! I’ve worn it out to every place I can possibly think of, to the airport (see my styling reel here) and while lounging around at home. 2 – Clio Cardigan – oversized, kindly gifted by Paper Label
I’ve always wanted a long black duster cardigan and this one checks all the boxes. Made of 55% cotton and 45% modal, like the Shelter Cardigan, it washes beautifully and comes out looking like new. In particular, I’m always reaching for this cardigan while working from home since it’s so comfortable and versatile. Something about an extra long cardigan feels so cozy!

3/4 – Lucille Midweight Crewneck Sweatshirt and Edith Midweight Slim Jogger – TTS with a relaxed fit, both kindly gifted by Hernest Project
There are not enough great things to say about these two pieces, let alone Hernest Project as a brand. They’re both made out of the same fabric, which is super breathable, so much so that I rarely ever heat up (and I’m a hot sleeper) if I decide to wear them to sleep on chilly nights. Yes, I consider these two pieces both as luxury sleepwear and loungewear pieces!
If you’re not familiar with Hernest Project, they are a Canadian sustainable and ethical business with a focus on sleepwear and loungewear that are both stylish and comfortable. Cas (the owner) is always a joy to work with and her transparency is always appreciated.

5/6 – Amaya Sweater and Kendal Pant – TTS, both kindly gifted from Lezé The Label. Linked to other colours in the Kendal Pant as the colour Mocha (pictured above) is no longer available.
Another great Canadian brand, Lezé The Label features comfortable clothes made from recycled materials (like recycled fishing nets) that suit both work and play. These truly feel like I’m wearing clouds, and I love that the pants feel kind of squishy, yet look perfectly suitable for an office setting.

7/8 – Sunday Crop and Umber Becky Bra – TTS based on size guide, Sunday Crop kindly gifted from Free Label.
I can’t believe it took me until this year to try out pieces from this brand! Although I’ve been following along on their journey for a while now. Free Label is best known for their wireless supportive bras. They are some of my favourites to wear on a regular basis. After being gifted the black (see below), I decided to grab the Becky Bra in umber during their preorder back in August since I loved it so much. Made from an anti-bacterial, breathable and durable bamboo rayon + spandex blend, and it’s reversible. As a super versatile and functional piece, I love repurposing it and wearing it as a crop top in the warmer months!
The Sunday Crop is made from the same fabric as the Becky Bra. It hangs and flows so beautifully. The added details like ruching at the calf and a waistband that can be folded down really puts a basic jogger to shame.
As another great slow fashion Canadian clothing brand, Free Label ensures ethical production where everything is produced in Canada, right down to the sustainable fabrics used in their designs.
9/10 – The Comfy Wide Leg Pant and Black Becky Bra – TTS, bra kindly gifted from Free Label. Pants are from Encircled.
My go-to wide leg pant. Really can’t go wrong with a comfy pair! Encircled was one of the first slow fashion Canadian brands I discovered when I first pursued my intentional wardrobe journey. As mentioned in the website description, these pants truly feel like sweatpants, but look dressy enough for the office.
Note that I have an older fit – they have since made changes to it as of April 2022. I also ended up getting these hemmed a few inches since it has an inseam of 31″.

Engage with them online (follow them on social media!), place their products on your wishlist, and/or purchase a gift card from them to gift to a loved one this holiday season.
