But as we all know, some occasions call for dressier + dolled-up looks. And who doesn’t love a summer glammed night out every once in a while? Whether it’s for a monthly dinner date with the hubby or a blind date with a potential future one, I’m sharing 5 summer date night outfits that anyone can recreate. By using minimal and even a few casual pieces you may already have in your wardrobe, we’re not over-complicating things over here!

5 Summer Date Night Outfits
1. Balconette + Straight Leg Jeans
This look incorporates some beautiful colour, featuring a flirty burgundy satin crop top (kindly sent over by Perk By Kate from a previous collaboration, listed as a balconette on their website). Some intentional details include:
- Wearing straight-leg jeans with an extra high-rise jeans (12″ rise) to offset the crop top silhouette.
- Very minimal jewelry (just a few dainty rings) so that the feminine shoulder tie straps shine through.
- Sticking to 3 colours – intentionally choosing blue jeans, along with shoes and a bag in a matching third tone for a cohesive feel.

I love how the top is padded, making it easy to wear without having to worry about wearing some sort of strapless bra. For extra shape and coverage, I may decide to wear my CAKES nippes (these are nipple covers that stick on without the use of adhesives) with it so that I’m fully comfortable.

2. Asymmetrical Top + Tailored Shorts
One of the easiest date night looks can arguably be a full black monochrome outfit. My intention with this was to incorporate certain pieces to create more dimension, like:
- Rather than choosing a basic tank top, opting for an asymmetrical one for added interest.
- Wearing a statement belt to offset the minimalist feel of the top and shorts combination.
- Choosing a top handle bag with visible gold hardware to match the belt.
As one of my favourite summer finds this year, these tailored shorts feature a 5″ inseam for extra coverage and never fails to add a smart element to an outfit. It can even be worn with basic pieces as a way to easily dress them up in the summer.

3. Lace Bustier + Wide Leg Pants + Blazer
This outfit really brought me out of my comfort zone, and I have to say, I love it so much! The lace bustier gives a slight peek-a-boo effect while the other elements contribute to a classier feel. Intentional details include:
- Wearing black and beige to allow for the green to stand out.
- Incorporating the third piece rule by throwing on a blazer, which also provides coverage so that I’m not exposing too much.
- Choosing a blazer made of linen for breathability in the summer heat.

4. Mini Slip Dress + Oversized Button-Up Shirt
I love the these two pieces worn together as they mix contrasting elements – flirty and casual. This look incorporates:
- A little black slip dress with details like a cowl neck and slit for added interest.
- A button-up shirt with an oversized silhouette to match the length of the dress.
- Additional gold jewelry to add a bit of sparkle to an otherwise basic black and white outfit.

5. Baby T-Shirt + Midi Skirt
Another full black monochrome look and probably the easiest of all the summer date night outfits showcased here, this time taking inspiration from the Dynamite website that features this skirt. To create this look, I:
- Chose a midi skirt with unique little details, like the front twist knot and high slit, and paired it with a casual tee for full contrast.
- Stuck with the black theme all throughout and kept everything else minimal so the skirt could shine through.
- Added gold jewelry for a bit of sparkle.
I’m always up for creating juxtaposition in an outfit, hence my love for a good smart casual look. So I love the addition of a t-shirt here, rather than a dressier top, to add an element of effortlessness to the overall outfit. For my casual girlies, this one’s for you!
