You may have noticed a bit of a change to Her Simple Sole blog. I wasn’t very happy with my first layout, to be honest I had a hard time even looking at it, and I finally decided to do something about it. I’m so happy I did—the fluid, monochromatic feel of this one really reflects the look that I’m going for. I hope you enjoy this new layout as much as I do!
It’s now late August (where has time gone?!), aka late summer. Say goodbye to 30+ degree weather. Now that summer is slowly fading here in Edmonton (*cries*), we’re facing some chilly mornings, windy afternoons (as evident by most of these pics), and a crap-load of mosquitoes in the evenings. But, cooler weather also means that it’s time to stock up on a whole new wardrobe (or, if your budget doesn’t warrant that, a play on layers!).
Cue this outfit. As I’m not yet ready to let go of summer (Note: the use of “late summer” instead of “fall”… I’m just not ready!), this transitional outfit consists of a rather brighter blue hue. Blue stripes and blue jeans, baby.
Go-to Late Summer Outfit:
1. Over-sized cotton shirt: This shirt reminds me of warm, breezy, beachy days, and would actually make a pretty sweet beach cover-up. Even as a long-sleeved shirt, it’s still giving me some major summer vibes. Yet it’s enough to keep me warm during those cooler mornings & evenings. Its light-weight, over-sized features allow for lots of flow and movement, perfect for a casual day out.
2. Boyfriend jeans: I find that loose fitting jeans provide more breathability and a lot more comfort. You can find some in the nature of boyfriend jeans, that are anything but skin-tight, yet flatter every inch of your curves. Go for a mid-rise or high-waisted style to cinch your waist.
3. Booties: Can you ever go wrong with black booties? Better yet, a sock-style bootie. I’m absolutely in love with these ones I found at Marshalls for a whopping $38! A total dupe of the Yeezy sock boots, in a much shorter “sock” version. They pretty much go with almost every single outfit, so you’ll be seeing these A LOT. I’m never taking them off. At least not until it starts to snow. 🙁 🙁 🙁
